Year 9 students took part in their Inter-House Cricket Competition on Tuesday. Each house split into 2 teams with A teams playing Softball Cricket and B teams playing Diamond Cricket.
The standard of cricket on show was excellent, with some powerful hitting and excellent bowling on display as well some truly outstanding catches. The students showed an outstanding attitude throughout the day and the competitiveness of the group really pushed the quality of play as high as it could get.
The final of the Softball competition was a thriller between Lindisfarne and Warkworth. It came down to the final ball with 6 runs needed to win the match and the competition. The Lindisfarne bowler came out on top thanks to an excellent final delivery giving Lindisfarne the victory by 5 runs.
The moment of the day was provided by Charlie Kain who took a staggering full length diving catch to stop a ball which was almost certainly going for 6. Other top performers on the day included Lucy Hobbs, Tobin Togy, Shazhib Saleem, Matthew Brown, Mitchell Simpson, Andrew Taylor and Ali Safi who all bowled and batted at a very high standard.
Special mention should go to the 16 Year 8 students who officiated the games as part of their Cricket Activators qualification – they did an excellent job throughout the day.
