Data is used to identify students who require support with their reading and there are three different levels of reading intervention available to students depending on their level of need.

  • Cohort 1 follow the Fresh Start phonics programme. This was chosen as it is a government approved phonics based approach by ReadWriteInc which supports older struggling readers with decoding of letters and sounds.

  • Cohort 2 follow IDL reader. This programme supports students who require some further support with their reading, as well as dyslexic students.

  • Cohort 3 follow the Registration Reading programme. These students read regularly in the morning with LSAs and 6th formers in the library. This programme allows these students to receive one to one support with their reading in a supportive environment, and also allows 6th formers to give service to younger students.
