The PE department at St Mary’s strive to encourage all students to take part in some physical activity and aim to inspire students to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Along with celebrating great sporting achievements, we celebrate the effort and commitment of students who sometimes find sport and exercise challenging.
On 4th May twenty three students were selected to take part in a Sky Sports Living for Sport event with the former Olympic gymnast, Craig Heap. The girls listened to Craig’s inspirational story of how he overcame barriers to become successful. Through games and practical activities Craig delivered a confidence building workshop, a reward for these girls who work hard in PE lessons.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed the morning and I believe they gained a lot out of meeting this athlete and are encouraged to become the very best people they can be.
