Gia Smith took part in the Sainsbury’s School Games Tyne and Wear Rowing Competition on Monday.

Gia raced against other qualifying students in her age group racing over a time of 6 minutes. She performed brilliantly, managing to finish second overall, unfortunately being overcome by one of her rivals in the last seconds of the race.

Gia now moves on to the Regional Finals at Durham University on Friday evening.
