St Mary’s has had an extremely successful athletics season this year, with many school records broken within PE lessons and at competitions. I was delighted with the popularity of athletics club and the interest shown in representing the school at Gateshead Stadium in the city championships this year.
Notable performances this year for breaking school records were:
Year 7
Joy Eyze- 100m (13.6) record held for 16 years.
Joy Eyze- 200m (27.80s)
Archie McConnell- 800m (2.35mins)
Kristen Beech- Triple Jump (8.62m)
Exodus Guangual- Hurdles (13.4s)
Year 8
Mia Collins- High Jump (1.31m)
Josh Collinson- 800m (2.15mins)
Phinehas Zozo- High Jump (1.55m)
Some of these records have been held for 16 years or more. It is a huge achievement. Well done. Congratulations to all that took part. I look forward to seeing how many records can be broken next year.
