Year 10

  • Review of topics – Weimar Germany 1919-1929 and Hitler’s Germany 1929-1945. The study of this period in German History where so many notable and far-reaching events took place.
  • War in Vietnam 1954-1975, specifically US involvement in the war, guerrilla tactics and how the US responded to these, the media war and protests against the war.
  • Controlled Assessment unit focused on Britain and the First and Second World Wars.

Year 11

  • Peace-making 1918-1919 and the League of Nations – focusing on how the Treaty of Versailles attempted to establish peace and why the League of Nations failed to maintain peace.
  • Hitler’s Foreign Policy and the Origins of Second World War. Study of the series of invasions led by Germany in the 1930’s including the Anschluss and the occupation of Czechoslovakia and Poland.
  • Origins of Cold War 1945-1960 and how rivalry developed between USA and USSR, including the development of the nuclear arms race and the space race.
