The Biathlon is comprised of running and swimming (distance determined on age).
The British School’s Biathlon Championships culminates in a ‘Championship Weekend’ of competition to be held in London in April 2017. In order to qualify for this prestigious ‘Championship’ in London in April, pupils had to attend a trial in Hexham on Sunday 9th October 2016.
Pupils performed outstandingly and were immaculately behaved. They all put in 100% effort, gaining as many points as they could over the two events. The U13 boys team finished as event winners and Ben Patterson finished in second place in the individual competition. Hannah Pountney finished in first place in the U15 girls after an outstanding performance in both the run and swim.
As this was a time trial, the overall national rankings will be released once all other competitions have taken place in January 2017. It was a fantastic day out that all pupils enjoyed. I am confident many of St Mary’s students will have qualified for this prestigious event.
Well done to all competitors.
