Students from years 9, 10 and 12 recently took part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival, performing an abridged version of Macbeth. The performance took place at the Whitley Bay Playhouse on the 9th of November and students opened the show- kicking off a fantastic evening of Shakespeare’s plays. They performed a second time within school to Year 11 who are studying Macbeth as part of their GCSE English course. The students impressed the Shakespeare Schools festival staff with their teamwork, professionalism and performance skills. As well as performing, students were able to experience a variety of roles, working with the lighting, sound and backstage technicians at the playhouse. This is the first time St Mary’s has taken part in the festival and the students thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the festival. All Hail Macbeth!
