Nick Armstrong (Year 11) – attended the Newcastle Eagles Basketball trials during the summer holidays. Nick impressed the coaches and has been selected to play for the Newcastle Eagles Basketball Academy, where he will train with future Basketball stars and compete against other Basketball Academy’s across the country. A fantastic achievement.
Congratulations to Jaiden Ncube (Year 11), who has been accepted onto the 5STARUK Basketball Camp which is based in Valencia. The training camp will help Jaiden to develop his skillset and reach his potential in an elite basketball environment during the summer holidays 2024. Jaiden will be competing against other European teams to test his ability against some of the talented players from across Europe. Jaiden will also be training with Professional European coaches who have experience coaching in some of Europe’s top leagues. A superb achievement!
Congratulations to Abigail Stempczyk (Year 8) who has been chosen as one of 12 squad members for the Newcastle Eagles U14 Academy Basketball Team. She will start competing in the Junior National League North Premier Division representing Newcastle Eagles starting in October. She will play against some of the best players in her age group in the country and will travel to play teams such as Manchester Mystics, Sheffield Hatters and Leicester Riders. A superb achievement! Well done!

Year 9 students have completed their CAD/CAM iconic designer inspired lamps. They have drawn intricate finger joints and 2D Design software and laser cut their products. Well done Year 9, amazing products!
On Tuesday, 22 Year 12 Business and Economics students travelled to London and visited PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Houses of Parliament. The students received many compliments from everyone they met, including from Catherine McKinnell MP and Nick Brown MP. A huge well done to these students.
Over 100 of our Year 10 students completed work experience outside of school yesterday, with the others completing some virtual work experience in school. We received a lovely email to let us know how well Sam Brooks (10M) and Jay Ewing (10M) did at Morgan Sindall Infrastructure and they were described as a credit to the school and to their families. Superb news! We have also received much other positive feedback from employers about our students.
A group of drama students have recently been leading some fantastic sessions in some of our feeder primary schools. These students have been an absolute credit to the school and the Year 4 students have loved working with our students. Congratulations to George Darwood (13R) on gaining a place at Durham Country Cricket Academy. He has recently been the star player, as Durham progressed to the Under 18 National Quarter Final. George is going to defer university next year and has signed to play for a Cricket Club in Melbourne, Australia (where he will also be a youth coach, as well as playing himself). Tremendous news.
Ruby Ifeajuna (7T) recently had a highly successful gymnastics competition where she achieved first place, qualifying the for the nationals in Birmingham in September. An absolutely fantastic achievement.
