- Germany 1871-1929 study of Bismarck’s Germany, Kaiser Wilhelm II’s Germany and impact of First World War, followed by an in-depth study of Weimar Germany up to 1929.
- Russian History 1855-1956 – study of dictatorship, reform and repression under the last 3 tsars of Russia and Lenin and Stalin, with a comparison between the tsarist regimes and the communist dictatorships.
- International Relations 1945-2004 – study of the beginning of the Cold War through to the role of the United Nations in the post–cold war world.
